Listening is one of those skills I’m always trying to improve, it’s definitely one of the hardest for me. Even now, it's something I continue to struggle with.
One of the challenges I’ve faced is around the advice to ask open-ended questions. While it’s great advice, I’ve found that getting there, requires building a foundation of more basic skills, like self-awareness.
A few months ago, I had the chance to publish an article with LeadDev, in which I shared some of the things I’ve learned over the years and still actively work on. In this article, I explore some of those foundational skills, which I believe are essential for helping me ask better questions and, in turn, become a better listener.
